Roll to stack solution High-performance Generation 8 finishing solution for the roll to mer ged stack production. The web is fed from the printing system via the Web Buffer WB8 web accumulator (only for inline operation) to the Web Merger WM8 and slit lengthwise. An edge trim can also be per formed at the same time. The two halves of the web are then super imposed in the Web Merger and fed to the Length- and Cross Cutter CS8. During the merging process, the right half of the web can be placed either under or over the left half of the web.

Roll to stitch solutions Depending on the configuration, these partner solutions can be used to produce either loose-leaf stacks for perfect-bound books or wire stitched brochures. The central components are the Length- and Cross Cutter CS8 and the sheet overpass on the Conveyor Belt TB8. Book solution with thread sewing Inline premium quality book production from the printed roll. The paper is fed to the thread sewing machine from the Hunkeler Unwinder UW8 and through the Length- and Cross Cutter CS6-HS. The Universe Web book sewing machine performs several processes on-the-fly. These are creasing, folding, collecting folded sheets in 8, 12, 16 or more pages to form one signature, as well as stitching and output. All process steps are executed consecutively. The book blocks are then fed into a book production line. In this machine, the hardcover preparation is performed by applying cover sheets and gauze. The line is completed by the three-knife trimmer, that features automatic size change without changing parts.

Pharma Due to controlled web guidance and proven processing technology, Hunkeler technology ensures a stable process to produce package inserts on light paper at a high perfor mance level. Web inspection systems with modern CIS technology guarantee error-free quality down to the smallest detail.
Roll to buckle‑fold solution Production from the roll to the finished folded package leaflet. Different end formats up to 762 mm format length (B2+ sheets) are possible. As an option, single-sheet stacks up to a height of 250 mm can be stacked or single sheets can be fed to a folding unit via the sheet overpass. In the Length and Cross Cutter CS8, inkjet printer color bars can be cut out automatically and the format length can be changed dynamically from sheet to sheet (DynaCut). The micro particles are removed con tact-free from the paperweb and are then collected in the exhaust air bin. The sharp air jet removes the dust from the surface like a planer. The paper web is cleaned on both sides in one process. The integra ted iPEM is available as an option on the Unwinder UW8 and on the Media Changer RX8, the stand-alone PEM is available as an option on the Roll Splicer RS8.
Paper waste extraction systems
Compact suction unit with high suction power The HKU 1250 compact suction unit can be used for small dust quantities as well as for the suction of remaliner punching (confetti). The mobile suction and filter unit is characterized by high suction power, high efficiency, low energy demand and low operating noise. Ideal waste extraction unit for the Hunkeler Dynamic Processor DP8 with file hole punching and the Punch and Perf Module PP6. Compact suction unit, mobile with integrated filter device The HKU 2000-N nonstop is equipped with a chopper for the extraction of paper waste chip outs and endless strips. All machines are compact, mobile, and operate entirely in a negative pressure mode for extraction and filtration. The dust-laden air is filtered, then clean air is retur ned to the production room; dust and paper cuts-offs fall into the large volume container below the suction unit. To keep the production machines running non-stop, the HKU is equipped with a slider system-, which allows the full material container to be emptied during operation. Connection to a central extraction system The central extraction system collects the production waste material directly from the Hunkeler finishing modules. As an option, the endless edge strips can be perfectly cut by a shredder for transport in the piping system. The shredder is equipped with a communication interface for connecting the central extraction system and the Hunkeler production line. This allows process steps to be automated and reduces dust pollution.

DocuTrim The Hunkeler DocuTrim is a multifunctional system for inline sheet processing that satisfies the requirements of the latest generation of printers. Book Sorting Module BSM The sorting criteria on the new Book Sorting Module BSM can be defined on a customer-specific basis. The BSM has 10 sorting options, including specifications for rejecting test, quality, and errored products. By reading the printed codes, the book blocks are assigned to the designated boxes. As an alternative to fully automatic sorting, the BSM can be operated in a “bypass mode“ and equipped with additional manual sorting stations. In this case, the individual book blocks are transported directly to the manual sorting station.

Hunkeler Control Platform The Hunkeler Control Platform provides a comprehensive solution for production quality and content control in digital printing. The platform consists of two levels: one for quality and content control with vision systems and tracking solutions, and one for machine opera ting data with Hunkeler Data Capture and an optional Analytics tool. The Hunkeler Control Platform enables seamless integration into existing production solutions, allowing compa nies to increase productivity, minimize errors, and ensure high product quality. Production quality control Hunkeler Web Inspection WI8 With the Web Inspection WI8 we can check the quality and content of the printing on each page in terms of colors, positions, contours, smearing, jet-outs, data validation, etc. The Web Inspection WI8 scans the entire width of the paper web, acquiring at full speed high-resolution images on the full surface of each page and comparing them to a related “golden sample”. Print quality and content errors are identified at an early stage, thereby triggering immediate action and reducing both downtime and wasted paper.
The optional Intelligent Print Inspection (IPI) enables a new way of performing print inspection. IPI uses the raw print data directly from the printer controller to compare to the actual printed image, eliminating the need for a “golden sample”.
Hunkeler’s versatile dynamic function DynaScan offers dynamic scanning of variable sheet lengths with automatic changeover during ongoing production. The result is noticeably higher flexibility and profitability.

Control and Tracking Solutions The production tracking monitors ongoing production in terms of completeness and accuracy. The con sistency of ongoing production is constantly compared with the target data and missing pages or dupli cates are identified. Defective products can be automatically fed out of the production workflow and missing documents reprinted, thereby facilitating fully automatic operation, and eliminating the need for manual intervention. Standardized interfaces enable communication with superordinate systems (host computer) and supports monitoring across multiple lines and even multiple production sites.

Hunkeler Data Capture enables automatic data capture from various Hunkeler solutions of different product generations. The collected data can then be analyzed in a user-friendly dashboard using Hunkeler Analytics to improve process and machine optimization as well as overall equipment efficiency (OEE). Our software system for production planning and process optimization With the Hunkeler Workflow Manager HWM, Hunkeler modules and solutions are networ ked with each other. With this software system, production jobs can be optimally prepared and produced. The HWM plugins support the user in creating production jobs, in collec ting and analyzing machine operating data, and for service assistance with Remote Assist. Hunkeler Workflow Manager
